Geopark Artists Launch Radio Series, Radio Dreaming

Based on an ancient Celtic tradition that the land remembers everything, Radio Dreaming explores how the land speaks through dreamers.

One year ago contemporary artists Anna Keleher (Devon, England) and Claire Coté (New Mexico) were busy “DREAMING PLACE” at Marble Arch Caves Geopark. Now they are launching the first Episode of Radio Dreaming, a radio program and sonic adventure woven from their experiences in this cross border Geopark.

“DREAMING PLACE is about deepening and illuminating our relationship with Place and we are excited to be sharing our project with audiences in Éire and Northern Ireland and around the globe. Radio is an exciting medium enabling Artists to reach people in  their own homes even in very rural settings,” says Claire Coté.

Radio Dreaming listeners are invited to join Anna and Claire eating, wild camping, walking and kayaking their way through the Geopark to meet its people, places, creatures and things.
Episode 1, features stories, conversations and soundscapes of Dreams, Food, and the Edible Geopark landscapes.

“Our broadcast gives protagonism to the diverse voices of these Geopark homelands. We really hope that Radio Dreaming will inspire others to listen and share stories in their own homeplaces,” says Anna Keleher.

Anna and Claire’s successful international collaborative partnership began at Dartington College of Art in 2007 during their studies in Arts and Ecology at Dartington College of Arts. When they finished their MAs and Claire returned to her native New Mexico, they promised to meet up again but this time in Ireland. Together they continue to make audio journeys, radio broadcasts, drawings, sculptural installations and performative events. The duo will be returning to Marble Arch Caves Geopark in 2013 to exhibit their work and create itinerant, collaborative drawings in Geopark habitats and homes.

Radio Dreaming debuts this summer on Cavan Community Radio, broadcasting within the Marble Arch Caves Geopark in Éire and Northern Ireland, as well as on stations throughout Europe and in Anna and Claire’s homeplaces in Devon, England and Northern New Mexico, USA.
